Bodelwyddan Castle
The concept focuses on ‘bringing the outdoors inside’. The new Reception, Lounge and Restaurant is bright and contemporary yet the placement of fixtures and furnishings help achieve the prime goal of creating a relaxed and comfortable environment for their guests.
Bodelwyddan Castle is a Listed Building, all internal finishes were specified with consideration to the existing surroundings and were subject to review by English Heritage.
The contrast between the aged stone castle walls and the new glass box required a sympathetic layering of decorations and furnishings to compliment both architectural styles.
Directing Guests through the new Day Lounge to the Main Reception was a challenge that required sensitive consideration.
It was essential the relaxed atmosphere of the lounge was not disrupted, therefore careful space planning and intelligent positioning of features helped to redirect the visual focus of attention and also control acoustics to create a successful solution.
