Refurbishment for the iconic Holiday Inn at Stonehenge.
Newman Gauge was approached by Armani Hotels who own the iconic Holiday Inn at Stonehenge to help with the refurbishment of their accommodation. The Client desired something unique, with heaps of personality and a boutique feel – all within the constraints of the Holiday Inn brand template.
We wanted to create a talking point, something artistic with connections to the locality without focusing on the standing stones alone. The wall at the head of the bed seemed an obvious location to create a focal point, therefore we produced a piece of art relating to the Salisbury Plains. Butterflies and Moths have been used in conjunction with sun beams and star charts to acknowledge the passing of time associated with Stonehenge.
The budget for this refurbishment was minimal as the property had been exceptionally well maintained however the rooms appeared tired and in need of updating. We retained a lot of existing elements and focused the budget on the key sight lines and the elements the guests would interact with. Subsequently the guest feedback has been fantastic. Mr A Markill states “Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the refurbishment, the room layout and comfort together with the high quality finish is exceptional – very impressive”
The Holiday Inn Salisbury-Stonehenge contracted Newman Gauge as its interior designer for the recently completed rooms’ refurbishment. We were delighted with the enthusiasm and professionalism of the team throughout the process. It is refreshing to work with an interior designer that understands the need to work within a budget, whilst interpreting the owner’s vision and complying with brand requirements. We were very pleased with the result.
